About Campus Operations

Campus Operations is dedicated to creating a world-class experience for our community to ensure The University of Texas at Austin succeeds in its vision to be the highest-impact public university. The unit consists of nearly 1,300 team members across Facilities Services, Operations Safety and Building Compliance, Operations Support, Planning, Design and Construction, Sustainability, and Utilities and Energy Management. Together, we build, maintain, renovate, and revive the University, and keep safe the spaces and infrastructure where students, faculty, and staff learn, teach, conduct research, and work.

Facilities Services
  • Creates and maintains UT’s exceptional physical environment and provides the following services: building cleaning, maintenance and repairs; landscape maintenance; locks and keys; event and moving support; surplus property; zero waste; waste management; and a 24-7 call center.
Operations Safety and Building Compliance
  • Supports the University through the areas of the Building Standards and Technical Review team, the Office of Emergency Management, Environmental Health and Safety, and Fire Prevention Services.
  • Sets, reviews and ensures building standards and ensures compliance with environmental protection; waste management; food, lab and clinical safety; and construction planning.
  • Provides comprehensive emergency preparedness and liaises with government emergency management agencies. Monitors university buildings for compliance and partners with community stakeholders to ensure fire protection and safety standards.
Operations Support
  • Serves the University by providing comprehensive capital investment management, including the replacement and renewal program; asset data and geographical information services; intake process management; and strategic asset planning and reporting to Campus Operations.
Planning, Design and Construction
  • Manages the University's master plans to align capital projects and initiatives with the strategic goals of the University.
  • Enhances the University’s physical environment by managing design and construction for renovation, infrastructure, and new construction projects.
Sustainability
  • Works with campus partners to provide programming that helps UT reduce life-cycle costs, restore or maintain functioning natural systems, and enhance human well-being.
  • Works with campus partners such as Facilities Services, Planning, Design and Construction, University Housing and Dining, and Utilities Energy and Management, as well as numerous schools and colleges to implement sustainable practices and initiatives.
Utilities Energy and Management
  • Provides reliable and cost-effective electricity, chilled water, steam, deionized water, compressed air, emergency power, and elevator services for UT Austin.
