Tec de Monterrey and The University of Texas at Austin are launching OriGen Health Research Center (OHRC), the first research center to leverage Latin America’s largest biobank, alongside leading machine learning tools and a broad base of experts from the two universities, to advance the health of millions of people living in the Americas. The OriGen Health Research Center will involve experts from UT’s College of Natural Sciences, Dell Medical School and College of Pharmacy.

Pharmacoengineering Program Enables Advanced Drug Development and Delivery

The graduate portfolio program in pharmacoengineering is an interdisciplinary effort that bridges expertise in pharmaceutics, chemistry, engineering, biochemistry, biologics and drug metabolism. The goal is to use new technology to develop next-generation, personalized treatments to ensure patients receive optimal dosages delivered to the precise part of the body that needs help — reducing harmful side effects and increasing their efficacy. The program is a collaboration between the Cockrell School of Engineering, College of Natural Sciences and College of Pharmacy.

UT Austin Studio Art student Pierce Cedillo’s painting, inspired by discussions at the College of Pharmacy Faculty Retreat in January 2024, explores the intersection of the arts and healthcare, offering new ways of seeing and encouraging innovative thinking and collaboration.
